This is Cómeme bringing more hot rhythms to the dancefloors of 2017 and beyond – this time starring Charlotte Bendiks from Tromso, Norway with her smashing and generous EP: “Hidden Tracks” – the first Cómeme EP produced north of the polar circle! Charlie is a spaced out chica doing dark humour techno hotness - scared and attracted by encounters with ghosts and ghouls, lost souls, insomnia and aurora borealis frenzy – these mystical experiences drive her to do her own take on physical dancefloor pleasure and pain, spinning records or playing live alongside Jon-Eirik Boska, who also features on this 12”.
Let’s dive into a parallel world of gothic ukuleles, isolated villages and their myths, juvenile silliness and arctic deepness.
Here are the “Hidden Tracks”…

about
KAIA
Djs need tracks that keep the dancefloor moving late into the night like this one, which is called “Kaia”, meaning “the docks”. Charlotte Bendiks in her own words: “In the very isolated village where I grew up, the best way to travel was with a boat. To get on the boat you had to wait outside on the windy docks, which could be freezing and very unpleasant, but necessary if you wanted to leave. The gateway to where you want to go can be beautifully unpleasant – to me it has to do with being playful even at the darkest and most serious times of life. Find some fun, face your fears and enjoy, getting lost is also part of the journey…”
Kaia is also a girls name, and the name of one of her great great grandmothers. She was left at the docks by most likely her family that she was sailing on a boat, because she was sick. She was a teenager at the time and found work on the farms in the village where Chalotte's family is from - she recovered and married Bendiks great great grandfather. Kaia was a angry witch, and the most sami ancestor of the artist.
Literally sickening record and wonderful message and cause and cant wait for more collaborative projects like this, worth whatever dollar you have.
